Media History: Recycling TV Comedy

Neil Genzlinger of the New York Times has an insightful article in today's issue about the current crop of TV sitcoms.

Genzlinger believes most of the new and popular shows are simply rehashing ground already covered beginning in the 1950s. He weaves in some good info about particular episodes of classic series, and contends that the new stuff is less subtle and thus less (or, as he sees it, not) funny.

To this, all we can say is, "Cue the laugh track!"
